Note 4 Unfortunately App Has Stopped Working

Problem: I always download new apps by the store before it was a lollipop now marshmallow and apps unfortunately stopped message keep appearing when i open some apps

Solution: For apps that have this error message you will need to clear their cache and data from the application manager. If the issue still occurs then proceed with a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Note 4 Unfortunately Gallery Has Stopped

Problem: Unfortunately gallery has stopped. Took battery outlet. Rebooted. Followed your suggestions. Still have error. Will allow to take pictures, but gallery issues remain.

Related Problem: Since my latest update last week, I cannot access my GALLERY. It won't even open and gives me the message that "unfortunately gallery has stopped". How can I fix this so I can see my photos?

Related Problem: ever since my phone has done the update this week, My gallery will not open up. It says "unfortunately gallery has stopped working"

Solution: Here's what you need to do for this type of issue. Clear the cache and data of the gallery app first from the application manager. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs.

An app installed in your phone could also be causing this problem. Start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the same issue occurs. If it doesn't then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

There are also instances when a corrupt temporary data in the device can cause this problem. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode to resolve the issue.

Does your phone have a microSD card installed? Try removing this card then check if the issue occurs.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

Note 4 Messaging App Is Slow

Problem: I updated my phone to the Marshmallow 6.0 today once it prompted me, it took forever. Afterwards my messaging app is running ridiculously slow. I have certain content for when the phone is locked, such as the actual sender and message, but it used to pop up and scroll the message in my status bar when I was using the phone, or when it was not locked. Now the only notification I get is the envelope icon in my status bar and a notification sound. No preview in the status bar. And slowwwww. Help please. I tried clearing the cache and the data on the messaging app but it didn't help at all. I've had this issue before and I don't think it was ever resolved until a new update came out a week or so later

Solution: Clearing the cache and data of the messaging app is a good troubleshooting step. However, since this didn't resolve the issue you should proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Once this is done try to check if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fail to resolve the issue then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

Note 4 Unfortunately Clock Has Stopped After Marshmallow Update

Problem: Hi, I just downloaded the Marshmallow updates today. Everything seems to be working fine. Until I opened Clock, the app that came with the phone which I can't even disable it or uninstall it, states "Unfortunately Clock has stopped". I tried everything such as clearing cache, clearing data, force stop, shut off my phone and took out the battery but still give me the same message. Please help me! Clock app came with this phone I can't set alarm now. Thank you very much for helping.

Solution: Since this issue occured right after the Marshmallow update then you should definitely perform a factory reset if you have exhausted every other troubleshooting step. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Note 4 Unfortunately IMS Service Has Stopped

Problem: I upgraded to Marshmallow and now I keep getting a pop up window that says "Unfortunately IMS Service has stopped". This is so frequent that effectively makes the phone unusable. I tried to reboot in Safe Mode, but I still get the same error. I also tried to wipe data/cache for all the messaging Apps installed but the problem persists.

Solution: Several other people who are experiencing this issue have resolved it by unchecking the rich communication setting of the messaging app.

  • Open Messaging (SMS)
  • Select More from top right menu
  • Then Settings
  • Choose Chat Settings
  • Tap on Rich Communications Settings and uncheck Rich Communications

If the issue still remains then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This is a highly recommended troubleshooting step that needs to be don whenever issues occur right after a software update.

Note 4 Apps From Unofficial Sources Not Installing

Problem: I have tried to download 3rd party apps from a site and they're downloading normally but not installing. Play store apps work just fine and even apps from other sites. What can i do to fix this issue? Should i try another site?

Solution: One of the problems you will face when getting apps from unofficial channels is that the apps are not assured to work properly. This might be the reasons why the apps are not installing. I highly recommend that you only get apps from the official channel which is the Google Play Store. Aside from making sure that you get the correct app you also protect your phone from malware infection.
