Samsung looks all set with its next-generation Galaxy Note 7 phablet, which is rumored to be unveiled on August 2. With less than a month to go for the official unveiling, the phablet has already been certified in Russia. The certified device was spotted carrying a model number SM-N930FD, there "D" at the end points to a dual SIM variant.
Over the past few months, the Galaxy Note 7 has been subjected to several leaks and rumors that have given us a fair idea of what to expect from the next Galaxy Note Phablet. A leaked Samsung memo obtained by iGyaan hints at slightly redesigned S Pen stylus and two new Air Command features. The Galaxy Note 5 suffered from a known issue where the S Pen would get jammed when inserted backwards. The redesigned stylus on the Galaxy Note 7 along with push to eject type of mechanism could help solve this issue.
The publication also notes that Samsung has baked two new quick action shortcuts called Speaking and Dictionary within the Air Command interface. While the Dictionary could be some sort of a translation feature, 'Speaking' could be a text-to-speech engine.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 specifications, features: From what we know so far, the phablet will come with a 5.8-inch (or 6-inch) QHD Super AMOLED dual curved edge display. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 823 processor is expected to power the phablet, paired with 6GB of RAM. With 32GB and 64GB onboard storage, rumors also point to 256GB storage option.
In the photography department, Samsung is likely to equip the Galaxy Note 7 with 12-megapixel rear camera with dual-pixel technology, the same as on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. There are also rumors that the Galaxy Note 7 may come with dual-camera setup at the back. Up front, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera of aperture f/1.7 is likely to be in now.
Other rumors suggest that the Galaxy Note 7 will include IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. Recent leaks also point to USB Type-C connectivity port and IRIS scanner for biometric authentication. The Galaxy Note 7 is expected to run Android N out of the box. While details about the pricing are scarce at the moment, we expect leaks to pour in as the launch date draws closer.
