Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to come with an iris scanner

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 7 will follow the current flagship smartphone and the phablet

Rumors went as far as confirming that Patron, an eye-scanner module manufacturer will supply Samsung with an array of parts required for the scanner. The device may also launch with Samsung's new 6GB DDR4 RAM which is based on a revolutionary 10nm chip and will come with advanced energy-saving features.

Those changes besides an improvement in overall performance have managed to redeem the Galaxy S6 Edge, which had raised questions about whether Samsung's expensive curved edge display gamble would pay off for the company.

Samsung is expected to unveil the highly awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on August 2 at a Galaxy Unpacked event to be held at the Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City. That, at least, is according to renowned tipster Evan Blass, who took to twitter to claim Samsung's next device will in fact be called the Galaxy Note 7, and will come with an iris scanner. The handset is also rumored to be borrowing features from the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, including a waterproof and dustproof case and microSD expansion slot.

Of course, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition will be on sale by the time the Olympic cauldron is lit. Price is not known, but being a special edition, it is expected to be pricey.

Just last week we thought we might have the answer, with a rumor suggesting that just a curved version would be launched, but now a pair of leaked logos suggests Samsung is launching both variants. Samsung's latest generation of flagships easily beats the previous one but the Galaxy S6 does have one advantage over the S7 in terms of camera. If Samsung does enact the IP68 rating, it will ensure that the Galaxy Note 7 is safe in up to 5 feet of water for a maximum of half an hour. The phablet will sport a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

It is also stated by Techconfigurations that the Galaxy Note 7 will be powered by a Snapdragon 823 processor. What is unusual is the 8 GB storage, expandable to a massive 200 GB - and one can see why.
