Note 4 Freezes Reboots On Its Own

Problem: Phone freezes up and reboots by itself . specially When using phone or camera .but it will do it all by itself or with other apps .(would not do it when turning mapquest gps for 8 hours .ran with no lagging or turning off .I already did a hard reset, cleared cache partition, and it still does it .sometimes it wont reboot normally and a a screen comes out saying its downloading something .I took the battery out and it will reboot normally once again. Out of warranty ,no insurance and on contract until february 2017 . Started having issues after last update a few weeks or months ago please help .thanks

Solution: Since this is an intermittent issue there are a number of things that you need to check. Below are the troubleshooting steps that you need to do to resolve this problem. Proceed to the next step should the current step you perform fail to fix the problem.

  • If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it. Observe if the issue still occurs.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Reboot your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Connect your phone to its wall charger then check if the issue occurs while the phone is charging. If the issue does not occur then this might be a power related problem. Try using a different battery in your device.
  • Check if an app installed in your phone is causing this problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then an app installed in your phone is causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Do not install anything in your phone after the reset has completed. Check first if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then this might already be a hardware issue. I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

Note 4 Stuck In Boot Logo After Software update

Problem: I did the most recent update to my device and once the installation was complete my device powered off and will not completely load back up. When attempting to power the device on, the samsung galaxy note 4 screen will appear then the AT&T world ball will appear and the device will freeze and continuously power cycle through the same two screen. This is very inconvenient bcuz this was my only means of communication for my job and etc. I fulfilled my contract with AT&T and wasn't trying to upgrade because I do not want to sign another lease and etc. Please help me

Solution: Something may have gone wrong during the update process. Here's what you need to do first. Remove the battery of your phone as well as the microSD card ( if you have one installed). Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This action discharges the phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Once this is done reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone. If the problem still occurs then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still occur.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first.

If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock firmware. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

Note 4 Stuck In Safe Mode

Problem: My note 4 has been stuck in safe mode for a day or so. I have rebooted it and taken out the battery for more than an hour also. I've also factory reset the phone but when turned back on, safe mode is still on. It is an unlocked phone by the way.

Solution: If the phone still starts in Safe Mode even after a factory reset then you should have the volume down button of your phone checked at a service center. This button could be constantly activating thus causing the phone to enter Safe Mode.

Note 4 Is Slow After Marshmallow Update

Problem: Every since my phone took the marshmallow update this morning everything has been very slow. No so much Internet speed but opening apps and widgets and their use. I.e.if I click on messages it take tremendously longer to open and when I click on a conversation it's slow and when I switch keyboards in texting it's slow and after I hit send it's extremely slow and laggy. Basically same with every app on my.phone. only about 3 months old . No issues prior or marshmallow

Related problem: My note 4 has become very slow after the marshmallow update. Sometimes while using the phone the screen locks and the unable to use fingerprint after restart message comes even though the device didn't restart.

Solution: Since the phone just got updated you also need to check if the apps in your phone need updating as well. These apps might be optimized to run on the previous software version but not on the current Marshmallow version. Try going to the Google Play Store then head out to the My Apps section. You will be prompted of any apps that need updating. If all of your apps are updated and the issue still occurs then you will need to do a factory reset. The reset will erase any old software data that is still in your phone and is most likely causing this problem. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Note 4 Freezes

Problem: Phone will just freeze and whatever app I'm using will just start over from the beginning. It also happens during anything else I'm doing such as writing this to you. This is the second time writing this because the first one closed and went back to your app home screen. It's driving me nuts. Please help. Thanks.

Solution: There are two things that you need to do for this kind of issue. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Lags Crashes

Problem: System lags, hangs, and full crashes phone after installing 6.0.1.  Some additional system update was made available on 6/25 and installed; but installing it has not resolved the issue.  Have removed memory card, wiped all data, factory reset phone…but the lag/hang/crash issue is still present.

Solution: If the issue occurs even after doing a factory reset and removing the microSD card then you should consider flashing the previous software version back to your phone. This will allow you to check if the update is causing the problem. Instructions on how to flash your device can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
