Note 4 Restarts On Its Own

Problem: As of today, my note 4 turns off everytime I open any app.. snapchat, facebook, call logs, messages etc. It is at full battery and stills turns off. Then turns on, not fully, and turns off again and continues to do this until it is plugged in. Once it turns back on it is still at 100% battery so the battery has not drained. At&t stores do not carry the note 4 or any products for it anymore. At least where I have gone which was 2 or 3 different stores. I cannot not always have my phone plugged in. Please help! Never had this issue before. Tried the soft reset and any other steps I have seen.

Solution: There are two things that you need to do in this kind of issue. You will need to check if the phone software is causing this problem. Next, you need to check if the battery is causing the problem. I suggest you backup your phone data first then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then the next thing you should do is to replace the phone battery. If the battery is not supplying the correct power to the phone then this could be causing the problem.

If the above steps fail then you should have the phone checked at a service center as the problem could be caused by a component inside the phone that's failing.

Note 4 Restarting

Problem: Every night I plug the phone into the charger, that it came with,  before bed time and use the Ambiance app to sleep to. The first night after Marshmallow, the app stopped working and my alarm didn't go off. Turns out the phone was had restarted. I looked into the doze function and turned it off on the clock and Ambiance app. The alarm thankfully worked but not the app. The phone restarted again last night and it won't allow use of the fingerprint unlock until after I enter my password. It's not set up to power cycle as far as I know. The battery seems to drain much faster too. Any ideas? I really do not want to factory reset, but if I have to…

Solution: While a factory reset will most likely fix this issue there are other steps that you should consider before doing this procedure. Listed below are the steps that you can do, move to the next step should the current step fail to fix the problem.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. While the phone is working in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn't then an app could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Shuts Off On Its Own

Problem: Hello .My note 4 just shuts off on its on during usage and once take out the battery and put it back in it comes on normally again .I have changed my battery  updated my Os .Cleared my system cache. Formatted the phone .I am using the latest os available for my phone .Let's just say i have done everything have seen in your tips but it still shuts off .But when put  it on power saving mode it doesn't shut off .Help

Solution: You have already performed all of the possible troubleshooting steps that can be done by a user. Since the problem still occurs then this could be a hardware related issue. I suggest you have this phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Does Not Turn On

Problem: 12 JUN – installed game ""Criminal Case"" – all fine  (may not be related) 13 JUN – suddenly went into battery power off/on loop, took battery out.  Rebooted but went back into loop before fully loading.  No effort helped.  I let battery drain and recharged when I got home. 14 JUN – all fine, deleted game, just in case.  phone worked for 4-5 hrs, when down to 13%, plugged in, light came on.   Came back later and would not start or charge (no light).  Ordered new battery from Samsung. WAIT for battery  24 JUN battery came, but I had surgery (and mother died – rough week) so had to wait to fiddle with it. 30 JUN replaced battery, but still, no charge, no light, no boot. 1 JUL followed steps listed on your site for soft reset, etc…. to no avail. I do not even know what to do with a phone that breaks as it has never happened to me in 20 years.  If you don't have miracle answer, can you advise?  Take back t o Sprint?  (no warranty, but still on payment plan/contract).

Solution: We are sorry to hear about your mom. Regarding the phone you should try taking out the battery and microSD card. Once both are removed press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then try to turn on the phone. If it does not turn on then connect the phone to its wall charger then let it charge for 20 minutes. It's best if you clean the charging port of your phone with a can of compressed air before charging it. You should also try using a different charging cord. F the phone still does not turn on then I suggest you bring this to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Turns Off When Battery At 30%

Problem: my phone have a serious issue I have Samsung galaxy note 4 I have recently updated the phone to 6.0.1 I have a battery issue its get automatically get off when the battery level goes at 30% to 40% then I have to connect with the charger to start the phone . and when I start the phone the battery remains the same . after that when I unpulled the charger after few minutes the same thing happen I just stuck in this problem

Solution: The first thing you need to check is if the update is causing this issue. To do this just backup your phone data and do a factory reset. The reset will delete any old software data that may not have been removed during the update and is now causing the problem. If the reset doesn't work then try replacing the phone battery with a new one as this could be causing the problem.

If the above steps fail I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Shuts Down Does Not Start Unless Connected To Charger

Problem: My phone shuts off by itself and will not reboot even though I have 90% battery..it only reboots while it is on the charger. When trying to restart in safe mode it comes on, with the usual Samsung galaxy note 4 message, but turns right back off after the T-Mobile jingle and then that process repeats until you take the battery out.. (but safe mode does work when also connected to the charger.). I looked at the battery and it still has that white spot and no red, so as far as I know it hasn't been damaged in any way.. Can you help me understand what might be wrong? And what I should do. I also heard that an app (snapchat) has been causing problems with others phone so I uninstalled that and force stopped the Google play store since that has been using up a lot of data… I did this in safe mode and once I turned off safe mode and let the phone reboot (all while still on the charger) it started the same shutting off and take restarting as soon as I take it off the charger..  Any opinion on what is wrong?

Solution: One possible reason why this issue is happening is due to a software glitch. You need to backup your phone data and do a factory reset to eliminate this possibility. After the reset do not install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.

Another possible reason why this is happening is due to a faulty battery. To check if this is what's causing the problem try using a new battery on your phone.

If the above steps fail then this could already be a hardware related issue. If this is the case then have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Does Not Charge

Problem: Here is one you haven't heard of yet! My Note 4 does not charge. My fiance also has a Note 4. I tried soft reset, wipe cache, and factory reset, and still does not charge. However, if I plug it in while the phone is powered off, the phone will vibrate once every two seconds. But it doesn't charge. Here is the kicker, if I plug it in via USB in my car, it recognizes it. But not if I plug it into my laptop. Right now I have her phone to charge batteries, but I need to be able to charge my battery!  No new apps added, no phone drop, no settings changes, nothing out of the ordinary that I can blame this on. I really thought the factory reset was going to work, but no dice. Please help! Is there a setting I'm missing?

Solution: What you can further do in this case is to clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. The aim is to take out any dirt or debris in the port which could be causing the problem. Next, try using a different charging cord as the cord you are using could be faulty.

If the issue still persists then the problem is most likely  hardware related. I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.
